Emotional Stress and Sudden Death

Acute emotional stress appears to play an important role in the development of sudden cardiac death. An interplay of autonomic neural imbalances, metabolic effects of stress and stress-induced myocardial injury is believed responsible although precise mechanisms remain unknown.
