Having completed his Master's in TESOL at Aston University in 1996, he later became a trainer for the British Council in Turkey and CELTA courses. He has examined for Cambridge ESOL since 1991 and for IELTS since 1999. For the past six years he has edited the ELT Materials Reviews section of Voices, the bimonthly IATEFL newsletter.
