Thanks to the State Opioid Treatment Authorities (SOTAs) and the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Agency Directors (NASADAD), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released a report showing that 70% of opioid treatment programs (OTPs) have adopted most of the new liberalized methadone regulations, issued in 2024 (see https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.34023 ). The report is great news for OTPs and methadone patients, showing that the revised regulations, which made it much easier to access treatment, have been embraced by providers. It's no surprise, however, since OTPs themselves have been demanding such revisions.
