Sustainability is sometimes presented as a narrow environmental concept. It is something much broader: a framework for enabling human flourishing within the limits of our planet. It sits at the intersection of energy access, resource stewardship, technological progress, climate responsibility, and social legitimacy. For geophysicists working across energy, mining, carbon management, and subsurface science, sustainability is not a side issue but the central context.
