Digital distribution produces new global cultural flows from urban centers like Lagos, Mumbai or Seoul. But it also enables new forms of distributed production in which cultural entrepreneurs cooperate across continents and challenge and expand established notions of cultural and political space. In the “new world order of cultural production” (Fatima Bhutto) cultural specificity is no longer a matter of physical location, but of digital transcreation, the transport of meaning across multiple cultural contexts. The contributions to this volume trace such transports across Africa, Asia, and beyond.
