The relation between temporary threshold shift and permanent threshold shift in rhesus monkeys exposed to impulse noise

Abstract : Ten monaural rhesus monkeys were tested for discrete frequency thresholds by a conditioned avoidance technique. They were then exposed to impulse noise and, on separate occasions, to the noise of tanks. Measures of temporary shifts in threshold taken after these exposures were compared with the permanent shifts in thresholds found when these animals were exposed to more noxious levels of impulse noise.
