In this paper, we use fuzzy logic for decision-making in situations in human resource management like personnel selection and optimal staff design. The flexibility of these techniques allows us to make a ranking of the applicants for a job by using distance measures or similarity degrees with an "ideal candidate". Moreover, if an external valuation is available, the OWA aggregation operators enable us to assign different weights to selection criteria to imitate this expert valuation. When the staff design is made in a complicated situation like a merger or an acquisition, it is usual to deal with an infeasible instance of the mathematical program. In this case, we propose two fuzzy linear programming methods for making viable the model. Finally, it is important to point out that these models can be implemented in MS EXCEL.
