The objective of this paper is to identify shortcomings related to performance management in an agile project environment, e.g., how performance management affects individual performance; and evaluate them in the sense of potential negative impacts on project and organizational performance. On this basis, potential solutions, and measures for a redesign of performance management systems have been proposed. This research paper uses contextual research questions and qualitative analysis and suggests several ways to redesign performance management in agile projects.
