Screening, Surveillance, and Primary Prevention for Colorectal Cancer: A Review of the Recent Literature

C olorectal cancer (CRC) remains a major clinical and public health challenge, with 148,810 new cases and 49,960 deaths expected in the United States in 2008. In this review, we summarize important developments in CRC screening and surveillance over the past several years and discuss the present state of the art of this field.
