Direct Determination of the Metric from Observed Redshifts and Distances

The measurement of red shifts and luminosity (or angularAiameter) distances cannot in prindle be used to deterinine the sign or magnitude of the spatial curvature unless supplemented withaynamical model. This ambiguity could be resolved by parallax measurements at cosmological distances.
