A pilot study of the effects of communication in the 1972 presidential campaign illustrates the utility of the survey research method as an adjunct to the conventional tools of the critic‐analyst of campaign persuasion. Findings describe the bases on which voters evaluated the campaign and responded to sources of political information and influence.
