Abstract An 11‐year‐old male neutered domestic shorthaired cat presented with a 4‐month history of a chronic cough and increased respiratory effort during the coughing episodes. Computed tomography identified lobar consolidation of the right caudal lung lobe. Cytological assessment of ultrasound‐guided fine‐needle aspirates taken from the consolidated right caudal lung lobe led to a diagnosis of primary pulmonary large granular lymphocyte lymphoma (LGLL). The patient initially responded well to a lomustine and prednisolone protocol. However, an episode of deterioration occurred at the time of prednisolone dose reduction. Despite a degree of improvement to rescue agent L‐asparaginase, the patient was euthanased 33 days after diagnosis following acute deterioration. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first reported case of feline primary pulmonary LGLL.
