The implementation of awareness training model has simple goals: (1) providing assignment and (2)analyzing assignment and reflection. It is a practical model and in accordance with the andragogyprinciple, that the tutor for adult will be more successful when there is an optimal involvement of theparticipants. The trainer plays his/her role more as facilitator by actively involving the participants indiscussion, presentation, and group work. The improvement of multicultural awareness is increasinglyimportant since the practice of counseling which is not culturally sensitive and which ignores thecultural difference is considered less ethical, thus causing malpractice. Counselor is expected toobtain the wisdom in facing counselee with all the differences in their culture and characteristics.Wisdom is said to have fundamental quality and to be effective for counselor quality. Activecounselor should have empathy and cultural sensitivity, not merely apply automatic approaches andskills, have deeper view, not deceit, have self-knowledge and self-awareness extensively, learn fromall his mistakes, be ready to reset the cultural context, precisely understand framework, have hightolerance and open minded feeling, and be expert in doing self-transcendence.
