In the summer of 1986, I found myself at yet another church camp for middle and high school kids. I was standing in a concrete shower that did not drain well, ankle‐deep in cool water. It was my job to travel around the country, especially in the summer, recruiting young people to consider matriculating at the faith‐based college at which I was employed.
