This paper presents a cognitive-behavioral approach to understanding and treating inhibited sexual desire. It emphasizes strategies to prevent desire problems, interventions when they occur, and techniques to maintain desire and prevent relapse. Special attention is focused on five components of sexual desire: Anticipation, owning your sexuality, preserving sexual pleasure, arousal and orgasm dysfunction, and valuing intimate sexuality.
