The need to make physics girl-friendly has become a major issue in recent years, largely spurred by the gender polarization that has occurred with options at 14+. Although the National Curriculum should eliminate such polarization prior to 16 we must not become complacent about girls and physics. Some of the projects designed to increase girls' uptake of physics are surveyed and some aspects of teaching physics in a girl-friendly way are drawn out.
