The performance of six hierarchical clustering methods (given by one algorithm, Wishart [1969j) are compared on bivariate and multivariate normal Monte Carlo samples. The methods are stopped with the correct number of clusters and compared with respect to correct classification (placing pairs of points in the same or different clusters correctly or incorrectly) and with each other (both methods agree or disagree in placing a pair of points in the same or differing clusters).
