Findley, James S. (Museum of Southwestern Biology. Dept. of Biology, Univ. of New Mexico, Albuquerque, N. M., 87106) 1972. Phenetic relationships among bats of the genus Myotis. Syst. Zool., 21:31–52.—A numerical taxonomic analysis of the species of the chiropteran genus Myotis revealed the existence of three major phenetic groupings. These may correspond to three feeding-foraging modalities. Phenetic evidence suggests the Oriental Region as a center of origin for Myotis, and a Myotis goudoti-Wke bat as a likely myotine prototype.
