The elastic energies of symmetrical dislocation loops

Abstract An expression for the elastic self-energy of a symmetrical dislocation loop having n sides and arbitrary Burgers vector is given. Relationships between the energies of different symmetrical loops are noted, and some absolute energy values presented. Energy expressions given by previous workers. for the circular loop are discussed.
