Molindone in chronic schizophrenia

Molindone, a new indole derivative, was evaluated as an antipsychotic agent with the use of a double‐blind placebo‐controlled technique. Antipsychotic activity relative to placebo was apparent, although it did not appear as impressive as that of the standard drug, chlorpromazine. A possible alerting effect associated with molindone was not apparent with chlorpromazine. Side effects were no more frequent than those seen with the usual psychotropic drugs.
