Forty-Year Review of Automotive Electronics: A Unique Source of Historical Information on Automotive Electronics

My first "Automotive Electronics" news column appeared in IEEE Vehicular Technology Newsletter (VT News) in August of 1974. Subsequently, I wrote four new columns every year for the next 40 years, continuing in IEEE Vehicular Technology Magazine (VTM) when VT News changed from a newsletter to a magazine. To date, I have written 160 "Automotive Electronics" columns. The average length of a column is about four print pages, so the 160 columns encompass about 640 print pages on the subject of automotive electronics.
