Cosmic gamma-ray production by bremsstrahlung in the interstellar gas involves cosmic ray electrons with energies below 1 GeV. In this energy range the electron energy spectrum is rather poorly known and quite uncertain. We estimate the influence of this uncertainty to the gamma-ray bremsstrahlung production rate. Especially it is shown that the integral production rate above 100 MeV is uncertain to a factor 8. The consequences for galactic and extragalactic gamma-ray astronomy are discussed.
