Theoretical calculations are described, based on the Fokker-Planck equation, of the loss of plasmas from the ends of simple magnetic mirror machines. The plasma losses are described in terms of the evolution in time of distribution functions. The effects on the loss rate that arise from varying the mirror ratio of the machines and from varying the shape of the initial distribution function of the plasma are discussed.
