Higher-Derivative Photoelectron Spectra and the Energy Band Structure of Copper

Measurements of the second derivative of the photoelectron energy distribution from cesiated Cu reveal structure not discernible in the energy distribution itself. The behavior of the structure on varying the photon energy is in excellent agreement with calculations based on k-conserving transitions within an interpolated band structure.
