Presents online search statistics, and reviews relevant databases in the social sciences using the files found in DIALOG. Discusses the value of having familiarity with fee-based databases, especially for librarians and social science researchers. Concludes that even though fee-based searches have declined in use in traditional academic and research library settings, the database information still plays a relevant role in research and expands the resources of all libraries, particularly those without major research collections.
