Many efforts have been conducted to address traffic collisions at intersections, since it accounts for a significant number of fatal accidents. The Connected Vehicles (CV) technology paradigm has emerged out of necessity in an effort to reduce or eliminate the number of fatal accidents, increase safety and convenience for drivers. In this paper, we adopt the vehicular communication approach to demonstrate a Connected Vehicle Collision Avoidance (CVCA) system, where two use cases are illustrated that include Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communication. The demo proves to be robust and efficient and can avoid collision at any situation, as vehicles are equipped with backup sensors to ensure no collision occurs, even in cases of communication failures.
