Sustainable development has become an important global priority in balancing economic growth, environmental protection, and social equity. The adoption of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015 created a global framework to address major challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and responsible production and consumption. Education plays a crucial role in achieving these goals by equipping individuals with knowledge and skills that support sustainable practices. Among different academic disciplines, commerce education has a significant role because it directly influences business activities, financial management, and economic decision-making. Commerce education provides knowledge in areas such as accounting, finance, marketing, business management, and entrepreneurship. When sustainability principles are integrated into these subjects, students become aware of the social and environmental impacts of business decisions. This helps promote ethical business behaviour, responsible financial management, and sustainable economic growth. The present study examines the role of commerce education in promoting sustainable development and contributing to the achievement of global SDGs. The study is based on a descriptive research design using secondary data collected from books, research articles, and reports of international organizations. The findings indicate that commerce education can promote responsible entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable business practices. The study concludes that incorporating sustainability concepts into commerce curricula can help prepare future business professionals to address global economic and environmental challenges. Educational institutions should therefore emphasize sustainability-based learning to ensure that commerce graduates contribute to long-term economic and social development.
