Abstract

Along with an exploration of the four novellas that compose Cuarteto (2021) by Soledad Puértolas this article reflects on the way this recent work echoes the concerns that have imbued the author’s narratives since the beginnings of her career – all emanating from the central theme of the role of the other in our lives. This study shows how in adding layers to Puértolas’s narrative world, Cuarteto consolidates the author’s place and her distinctive voice within the Spanish literary context.
