Proteins Synthesized in Chick Cells Following Infection with Semliki Forest Virus

Summary When chick embryo cells were infected with Semliki Forest virus, six new proteins were formed. All six were first detectable 3 hr after infection and were present in the same proportions thereafter. Their distribution between different subcellular fractions was correlated with the presence of viral components in these fractions. Two of the proteins were identified as those of the complete virus particle; one was associated with the lipoprotein envelope and the other with the ribonucleoprotein core.
