This study examines the integration of traditional Colombian rhythms into ballet music, culminating in thirty original piano compositions designed for ballet classes. Inspired by rhythms such as bambuco, currulao, and polka sanandresana, these works merge the structured discipline of ballet with the vibrant essence of Colombian musical traditions. The compositions align with ballet exercises in tempo and movement, highlighting structural parallels between ballet forms and Colombian rhythms. Despite challenges in adapting celebratory rhythms to piano arrangements, the process underscores the creative possibilities of localizing ballet. This interdisciplinary research demonstrates how embedding cultural identity into dance education fosters cross-cultural innovation, offering a reimagined pedagogy that celebrates and reinterprets Colombian artistic heritage within the framework of ballet, through the meaningful exchange and mutual recognition of knowledge among a traditional musician, a pianist, and two ballet teachers.
