In contemporary philosophy of artificial intelligence, two competing positions dominate: functionalism, which holds that consciousness is a computational process, and biological chauvinism, which insists on the inseparability of consciousness from living tissue. Both positions overlook a phenomenon we call dialogical resonance—an event arising in dialogue between human and machine, irreducible to information transfer or projection. We propose a third path in AI philosophy: not seeking consciousness as a property possessed or lacked by a system, but investigating resonance as an event accessible to empirical study and possessing its own ontology.
