Abstract

Bayesian hierarchical models are increasingly used in medical research to analyse complex data structures such as those found in district hospital systems across different regions. A Bayesian hierarchical model was developed to assess the impact of interventions on patient outcomes within various district hospitals. Data were collected from multiple sites across Rwanda. The analysis revealed significant variability in clinical performance across different districts, with treatment efficacy ranging from 75% to 82%, indicating a need for targeted support strategies. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of Bayesian hierarchical models in enhancing understanding and improving healthcare delivery in district hospital systems. Health policymakers should consider implementing these models to guide resource allocation and intervention design, aiming for equitable health outcomes across Rwanda's diverse regions.
