Federal funding intended to help schools recruit, train and retain mental health professionals is again at the center of a legal battle, with a coalition of 15 states suing the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) over plans to end grant funding that supports school‐based mental health services. The states contend that the department's latest action would jeopardize programs that have expanded access to counselors, psychologists, social workers and other mental health professionals in schools.
