Abstract Introduction: Social media has become an integral part of lifestyle. It has considerably increased in recent years, whether sharing or gathering health information. Healthy oral hygiene is the key to not only oral health but also the general well-being of humans. Oral health and heart disease are interconnected. Bacteria from the oral cavity spread to different body parts through the bloodstream. Good oral health is a stop to the diseases of the oral cavity. Materials and Methods: The research contains a standard generic questionnaire to assess consciousness, conviction and conduct regarding oral hygiene amongst the rural adolescent population of Bihar. Results: The data of 256 patients were evaluated. The data were evaluated for cognizance of oral hygiene. In rural areas, many subjects were well aware that humans have 2 sets of dentitions in their lives. Subjects were conscious that bleeding gums are suggestive of poor oral hygiene. Conclusion: Developing proper oral health awareness through camps, drama or play acts and most importantly, through social media. This will provide positive reinforcement towards consciousness, conviction and conduct regarding oral hygiene.
