Nigeria has the potential to be a net exporter of oil palm products; however, production is poor. This is perhaps attributed to poor soil nutrient and soil management leading to high decrease in potential yield of the crops. Therefore, the objective of this paper was to investigate the Growth Performance and Nutrient Uptake by Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis JACQ) Seedlings after Fertilization using appropriate standard techniques. Results obtained for plant height in regards to the various treatments applied, showed that there were no statistical differences (P>0.05). However the only significant different seen in regards to the number of leaves in this study was in the first month after transplanting the seedlings (p<0.05).The application of the fertilizers in all combinations resulted in an increased soil Nitrogen after 5mths following transplanting of oil palm seedlings compared to the control. Similarly there was enhanced Phosphorus content in the soil. Complimentary use of vimpel and inorganic fertilizer (NPKMg) gave the best enhanced foliar phosphate levels of the test crop when compared with the control.
