Aim. The aim of this work is a functional-semantic analysis of German prepositional deverbatives from the standpoint of taxis theory. Methodology. The article analyzes prepositional deverbatives with temporal prepositions in, bei, mit, während, vor, seit, nach, bis. The following methods were used in the study: hypothetico-deductive, inductive, descriptive and contextual. Results. Based on the analysis of empirical material, it was revealed that German prepositional deverbatives with the monotemporal preposition während and inclusive-temporal prepositions in, bei, mit implement the taxis function of simultaneity (complete, partial). Prepositional deverbatives with the monotemporal prepositions vor, bis, nach, seit actualize the taxis function of precedence (strict, non-strict) and the taxis function of succession (strict, non-strict). Research implications. The results of the study make a certain contribution to the functional-semantic concept of the category of taxis. The materials and main provisions of the study can be used in the practice of teaching theoretical and functional grammar of the German language in higher education
