Digitalization of the Russian banking system is becoming a key factor in the sustainable development of the financial sector. In the context of technological progress, changing customer behavior, increased competition from FinTech companies and increasing regulatory requirements, traditional banks are faced with the need for a radical transformation of their activities. This concerns not only the introduction of new technologies, but also a fundamental change in approaches to management, organization of business processes, building customer experience and creating digital products. This article discusses relevant aspects of forming a development strategy for Russian banks in the digital economy. An analysis of the current state of digital transformation of the banking industry in Russia is conducted, including the level of process automation, the degree of implementation of modern information technologies and readiness to adapt to new conditions. The key challenges facing domestic banks are highlighted: the need to modernize IT infrastructure, develop digital competencies of personnel, ensure cybersecurity, and integrate with external digital ecosystems. Particular attention is paid to the possibilities of using technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain and cloud solutions to improve the efficiency of banking operations, personalize services and reduce costs. The models of interaction between banks and FinTech startups are considered — from cooperation to acquisitions of innovative companies, which allows accelerating digital transformation and increasing competitiveness.
