Mastering English language skills is the cornerstone of learning English well, an important training goal required by English curriculum standards, and an important ability that students must possess. Phonics in English teaching aims to help students establish the relationship between English letters and letter combinations and pronunciation, so as to cultivate students' ability of "seeing words to read, hearing words to write", guide students to actively discover pronunciation rules, and establish the internal relationship between words "sound" and "form". Therefore, it is of great practical significance to study the influence of phonics on students' English language skills. This paper takes the influence of Chinese students' English language skills as an example to conduct a systematic study. The experimental class and the control class are selected. The experimental class uses phonics for teaching, while the control class uses traditional teaching method for teaching. The experimental hypothesis is verified, and it is proved that phonics can greatly improve students' English language skills, and effectively promote the development level of education while enhancing students' English learning ability and interest.
