1,3,4-oxadiazoles are a class of heterocyclic five-membered compounds with two nitrogen and one oxygen that are highly important in pharmaceutical science. This nucleus has four isomeric forms: 1,2,4-oxadiazole; 1,3,4-oxadiazole; 1,2,5-oxadiazole; and 1,2,3-oxadiazole. This nucleus has been shown to have many biological activities, including antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antitumor, antidepressant, anticancer, and analgesic properties. In the present investigation 5-substituted-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thione (4) derivatives were synthesised in four steps and characterized using spectral analysis.
