The rapid development of information technologies in the changing times opens up a number of new opportunities in the sphere of education, including the teaching of foreign languages. In this sense, the paper explores the possibilities of using the Internet in the teaching of German and Russian as a foreign languages. An overview of the relevant internet resources for learning and teaching the mentioned languages is given, the quality of the offered content is analyzed and their classification is made according to the type of material, the method of presentation and the approach to the acquisition of language and speech material. The aim of the paper is to point out the numerous opportunities that the internet sources provide for developing and perfecting language skills, to offer instructions for the selection of available materials, as well as to show with concrete examples how internet content can be used in a creative way in the classroom and outside of it. Descriptive, analytical and comparative methods are used in the paper. Descriptive and analytical methods are used in the description, quality assessment and classification of internet materials, while the comparative method is used in comparing the results of the analysis of German and Russian sources. The results of the research highlight the advantages and indicate certain limitations in the use of the Internet in foreign language teaching, offer recommendations for the selection of internet materials, as well as instructions for working with the selected language material on concrete examples.
