A choir rehearsal room has been recently refurbished due to the original room having insufficient reverberation according to the newly introduced ISO23591:2021. Feedback from choir singers was obtained to study the effect of room acoustics on their perception with regard to singing effort and ability to hear oneself and others in the refurbished room. Field measurements taken to ISO3382-1:2009 were compared to the original configuration of the choral rehearsal room. These included room acoustics parameters: Tmf, Bass Ratio, Clarity, Sound Strength, and Critical Distance. The choir was surveyed as to their preference to critique the suitability of ISO23591:2021, including a comparison to NS8178:2014. In light of the answers, a calibrated computer simulation was produced in CATT-Acoustics to predict the necessary changes to the newly refurbished room to improve the acoustic.
