Motivation: To improve experimental efficiency by reducing scan time without compromising the segmentation of gray matter in brain anatomical images. Goal(s): To evaluate the extent to which scan time can be reduced using MP2RAGE with compressed sensing while preserving image quality. Approach: This study utilized CS-MP2RAGE and PI-MP2RAGE sequences at 7T with varying acceleration factors to compare the segmentation and T1 values of gray matter. Results: CS-MP2RAGE reduced the scan times by up to 80% compared to PI-MP2RAGE, with high segmentation similarity in most regions, but there were still issues with gray matter T1 values and contrast and signal uniformity in some areas. Impact: The significant scan time reduction obtained by CS-MP2RAGE sequence could improve clinical and experimental workflow efficiency, reduce patient discomfort, and expand research possibilities in ultra-high-field MRI.
