Abstract

Abstract Accelerated by a growing public consciousness for more conservative methods in the harvesting of timber crops, the selective form of cutting has received favorable and valuable publicity. Of necessity public definition of the method has been given in terms of values which might be achievedrather than in terms of problems which must be solved before those values can become realities. That modern methods make possible the solution of those problems at reasonable cost is illustrated by cutting experience upon the Menominee Indian Reservation.
