Tel Yavne, Areas G3, G4 and G8

During August 2020–September 2021, a salvage excavation was conducted in Areas G3, G4 and G8, in the southeastern margins of Tel Yavne (Permit No. A-8656; map ref. 176379–403/641468–536; Fig. 1), as part of a large-scale excavation project in the eastern part of Yavne, prior to the construction of new neighborhood 'Yavne east' . The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Israel Land Authority, was directed by E. Haddad, L. Nadav-Ziv and J. Seligman, with the assistance of Y. Gorin-Rosen and R. Lewis-Bloom (glass), M. Ratner, R. Shoef, M. Avrahami and Y. Tirosh Hacohen (conservation), Y. Nagar (physical anthropology), L. Perry Gal and I. Ktalav (archaeozoology), Y. Asscher and Y. Sheizaf (analytical laboratory) and D. Ben-Ami, A. Shadman, Y. Tepper, D. Barkan and I. Radashkovsky from the Israel Antiquities Authority’s Central District . Workers and youth from several schools and premilitary programs participated in the excavations.
