A BSTRACT Background: Thyroid disorders have become a major global health concern, with significant impacts on the health of many individuals. Aim: To assess awareness and knowledge of thyroid disorders among citizens of the Hail region, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Methods: From March 2024 to October 2024, a prospective cross-sectional study using a self-administered, structured questionnaire to assess respondents’ knowledge about thyroid disorders, including symptoms, causes, risk factors, investigations, and management. Descriptive statistics were used to explore the findings. Results: A total of 442 individuals participated in the study; most were female (59.3%), with a mean age of 37.43 ± 13.98 years. Nearly half (45.5%) had an advanced level of education. The study revealed that 59.7% of participants were familiar with thyroid diseases, 83.7% realized the exact anatomical location of the thyroid gland, and 77.4% recognized the function of the thyroid in regulating hormones. Nevertheless, only a small proportion could identify risk factors, symptoms, investigations, and treatment options for thyroid disorders. Being young, males, or having a family history of thyroid disorders were more likely to identify the location of the thyroid gland. Conclusion: Participants proved reasonable knowledge about the thyroid gland’s basics but had limited awareness of risk factors, symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatment choices for various thyroid conditions.
