Transformation of Human Existential Space in the Context of a Civilizational Challenge

The problematic nature of man in our time is gradually moving from the theoret­ical sphere into specific life situations of people, where there are heated dis­cussions about what is “human” in a person and what is “dehumanization”. The question of the boundary between humanity and dehumanization not only requires clarification and a theoretical answer, but is experienced by people as an existential challenge aimed at preserving human existence as an entity that “understands being”, “knows how” to be in the world and “is determined in its being by existence” (M. Heidegger). Hence, the philosophical understanding of all types of humanism that determine the actions of people in different periods of human history, as well as the modern self-affirmation by man (homo) of his humanity (humanitas) is not only relevant, but also practically significant for contemporaries in choosing their own behavior and strategies for the further de­velopment of human civilization. The purpose of the article is to consider the exi­stential space, existential experience, and existential project as an integral struc­ture authentic to human existence, and as a methodological tool for studying the transformations of existential space in various periods of human civilization development (stable/unstable); to reveal the features of the modern anthropologi­cal crisis as an existential challenge
