Abstract

Coastal and urban regions face increasing threats from seismic hazards and climate-induced disasters such as rising sea levels, hurricanes, and heatwaves. The compounded effects of urbanization, population density, and environmental uncertainties demand a paradigm shift in infrastructure design to enhance resilience and adaptability. This paper explores seismic-and climate-resilient infrastructure design as a critical framework for safeguarding communities and sustaining economic growth in vulnerable areas. The study highlights multidisciplinary strategies that integrate structural engineering, materials science, climate modeling, and urban planning to address complex risks. Central to this approach are innovative design methodologies that emphasize adaptive foundations, energy-dissipating materials, modular construction, and sustainable land-use planning. Moreover, advanced technologies such as sensor-based monitoring, geospatial modeling, and AI-driven simulations enable predictive risk assessments and proactive disaster management.
