Relevance of the research topic. The need to strengthen the health of children, to acquire the necessary experience to know how to swim for safety purposes, to improve the health of the family are important components of the national state health care system. Modern approaches to the improvement and development of children require the expansion of professional knowledge in this field. The demand for highly effective methods of improving the health of young children requires the training of competent specialists, the development of scientifically based effective programs for their training. In this regard research in the field of teaching swimming to children up to 3 years of age, creation of methodical materials regarding the organization and conduct of classes with the appropriate contingent are urgent and relevant. The purpose of the study was to develop a step-by-step structure of the formation of swimming skills in children up to 3 years old at the main stage of training under the program "Like a fish in water". During the research, the following methods were used: analysis and generalization of literary sources, pedagogical observation, survey, questionnaire, video recording, methods of mathematical statistics. Results. Structuring of the main stage of teaching swimming to children up to 3 years old under the program "Like a fish in water" has been carried out. The step-by-step passage of the 8 stages of the main stage is presented in detail. The importance of structuring its sections for improving the qualifications of specialists working with the relevant contingent is emphasized. Conclusions. The organization of swimming lessons with children up to 3 years of age should take into account the step-by-step formation of skills in the child's swimming development. The transition from stage to stage should be clearly defined based on the assessment of the child's mastery of swimming skills. A favorable passage of the main stage ensures successful learning to swim and harmonious interaction between parents and child.
