When Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson campaigned for the office in 2023, public attention to his vision for mental health reform focused on his vow to reopen city‐operated mental health clinics. That aim is beginning to come to fruition but is only part of a more comprehensive plan that also includes more effective crisis response and stepped‐up public outreach.
