The article is devoted to an urgent problem - the correction of emotional and volitional disorders in mentally retarded adolescents. The key objective of psychological and pedagogical assistance is not only correction, but also improvement of emotional and volitional regulation in adolescents with intellectual disabilities, as its underdevelopment leads to behavioural deviations, a desire to isolate oneself from society, a decrease in productivity, and other negative consequences in a child’s life. In this study, the authors analyse the effectiveness of the correction programme that includes role-playing games and a specialised set of exercises. Based on the results obtained, the proposed programme demonstrates a positive effect on the development of the emotional and volitional sphere of adolescents with mild mental retardation.
